About the MacAlba
I (Gordon Smith) have lived in Australia since 1980. Back then, I really only thought of myself as coming here from Scotland for a 2-year working holiday even though I held a permanent resident visa. And I’m still here.
I live near Armidale, in rural New South Wales, with my wife Bronwyn (and two Border Collies) on 40 hectares (100 acres) of Australian bushland. The property is 1020m (3350 feet) above sea level where, in winter, even though we’re “only” 30 degrees south of the equator, it gets cold enough to snow.
An Aberdonian born and bred, I attended Robert Gordon’s College then studied and worked at Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology (now the Robert Gordon University).
